A uniface pattern of Friedrich III
Lot 2496
GERMANY. Kaiserreich. Preußen. Friedrich III, 1888. Pattern 2 Mark (Silver, 28 mm, 8.35 g), München (Munich), no date (1888). FRIEDRICH DEUTSCHER KAISER KÖNIG V. PREUSSEN Bare head of Friedrich III to right, M below. Rev. Blank. Tiny marks and edge nicks, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.

This uniface pattern depicts the German Emperor and King of Prussia, who died from cancer of the larynx after a reign of only 99 days. The design and diameter matches the 2 Mark coin (Jaeger 98), however the 'M' mintmark below the bust indicates that this type was struck in Munich rather than in Berlin ('A').
